Last year Motorola launched arguably one of my top devices that I have ever owned. The thing that makes this phone Moto Razr Plus (2023) such a blast was the amount of work you could do with the external screen without opening the phone. Therefore, when Motorola introduced its Moto Razr last fall, it was an uproar. The screen on the outside was not large satisfying to be able to do … much more. In the coming year Motorola has announced two brand new models — and, of the two the basic Moto Razr gets the biggest improvement of both. The 1.5-inch outer screen is blown to an 3.6-inch display, which is exactly the same size that was the Razr+ that was released last year. Therefore, it’s safe to say that this is an enormous improvement.
It’s a refreshing change from the launch last year was not exactly awe-inspiring. It was also a few months after the launch of the Moto Razr+. In the meantime, Samsung which is its main rival with respect to the U.S. — had abandoned that tiny external display, realizing that it is important to together phones without having to open the display. Today, it’s pleasant to see that Motorola as well as the business as a whole has shifted and is now taking this display very seriouslyand at an affordable price. Here’s what Motorola brings to the table by launching the Moto Razr (2024).
The display is more extensive
Let’s put it on the external display for a moment, and then discuss the brand new user interface Motorola is introducing. The entire interface is brand new this time, as the display itself is brand fresh.
Similar to in 2024’s Razr+ (and the model from last year) There are screens that you can use to access calendars or weather-related apps. In addition, as with similar to the Razr+ you are able to run every app you’d like to run on the screen that covers it. What’s new this year are the new user interface. A simple touch reduces the view of all the panels so that you can use a tap to toggle between them. You can change the panels that appear, and also arrange them in a different order. It’s much simpler than the previous Razr+ that required you to enter the settings to move the order of them.
In addition the phones this year will have an ever-on display, which was a popular feature the previous year. In addition, the ever-on display will match with the display on your lock screen and remove the photo and switches to the black-and-white text providing an effortless transition between AOD to your lock screenIt’s a nice feature.
Internal updates
Inside the battery stays the same, at 4,200 mAh. Motorola also added the MediaTek Dimensity 7300X processor 8GB of LPDDR4X memory and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage in addition to Android 14. Motorola promises 3 years worth of OS updates, as well as the promise of four years worth of updates to security. It’s important to note that at the time of writing, Motorola hasn’t updated last year’s Razr+ with Android 14 as of yet, however, it claims that it will happen this summer.
This camera features a revolutionary 50MP sensor that has an f/1.7 aperture, and .8-micron pixels. The camera’s quad bins down to 12.6 MP when it is set as default. Ultrawide camera is a 13MP shooter that has a 120 degrees of field of view.
It’s safe to claim that the camera on the Razr this year was to put it simply quite poor. With that low bar set it shouldn’t be a problem to increase to the current generation. Our full review will detail this story, however considering that the Moto Razr+ doesn’t have an ultrawide camera which is already a major upgrade for those who think the ultrawide camera to be a requirement.
The latest Razr offers a low-cost potential
Although it’s not yet time to draw a definitive conclusion however, it’s nice to see a significant move forward from Motorola. This is particularly true because Motorola is maintaining the same price of $699. Last year, you needed to make concessions in order to reach that price. This year, it’s going to be much easier to leave the shop feeling satisfied with the $699 folding phone.
Of course it is true that the possibility to purchase a foldable smartphone for under $700 would be amazing. If the cameras hold up to mid-range standards, Motorola is in good condition. The bigger cover screen, the constant on display, and the brand new User Interface are the main great things. In addition there is it’s worth noting that the MediaTek processor is unknown quality and the camera, and so that price reduction might (and we’ll be honest likely will) result in a compromise. Be sure to check out our full review, where we will discuss what those sacrifices actually are.

How long will Motorola RAZR batteries last?
In combination with the slower processor and a slower-running screen The Razr will comfortably last all day without charging. It typically dropped to around 35% to 40% when I finished my usual 16-hour workday this is quite satisfactory.
What is the age of the Motorola RAZR flip phone?
It’s hard to believe the past twenty many years since the introduction of the first Razr V3. I’ve been around for long sufficient that I still remember placing that tiny piece of technology in the front inside cover of Laptop Mag around 2004. That’s the time since Motorola introduced the flip phone and introduced the world’s thinnest and lightest design.
